Chili Cultivation

I've always loved spicy foods, but a few years ago, I was visiting friends, Larry & Judi DiGioia who had a copy of Chili Pepper magazine on their table. Larry also had some spicy sauces that he let me sample and this visit kindled an elevated interest in these pungent little pods. I tore out the order card for Chili Pepper magazine and subscribed.

Later, in a small ad towards the back of my first "Chili Pepper" I learned about 'Seed Savers Exchange' in Iowa which is a network for gardeners to exchange their heirloom varieties. I ordered many varieties of pepper seeds one year, some potting soil and the rest is history. You can read about my whole chili gardening experience in Cultivating Chilis from Seed to Spicerack or click on any of the following thumbnail images in my chili pepper gallery for a larger photo. I grew all of these chilis in pots in my driveway at my home in Pittsburgh, PA.
